Italy’s capital, as the home of three thousand years of Western civilization, has an incredible wealth of ancient sites and modern sounds. Many of the ancient sites belong to cultures other than the ancient Romans. In fact, Rome harbors eight ancient Egyptian obelisks which were carried down the Nile and across the Mediterranean sea on special cargo ships to Rome. This photo series highlights some of the many pieces of Egyptian art in Rome.
