Naples Travel Tips:

  • Naples does have a dark side so it is advised to err on the side of caution. Don’t wander into neighborhoods or streets that make you feel uncomfortable or uneasy. Stick to the busier streets, be cautious of able-bodied beggars, and walk with confidence.
  • Indulge in the aperitivo tradition with the locals between 5:00 and 8:00 pm as a warm up for dinner.
  • Red lights are discretionary in Naples. Be extra aware of cars and more specifically motor scooters. If crossing a busy street that has few breaks in traffic, make eye contact with the driver so you are sure they are stopping for you.
  • The farther south you get in Italy, the more reserved it can get. Keep this in mind if you spend a day at the beach. Going topless farther north may be acceptable, but can be offensive in Southern Italy.
